Ricketwood Farm - KWB Powerfire 600kW

NG14 6AR Nottinghamshire

Boiler: 2 x KWB TDS Powerfire 300kW each
Fuel type: Wood chip
Project type:
Installation in to an existing barn

Project Scope

Ricketwood Farm is a working farm seeking a biomass solution to reduce the fuel consumption and running costs of heating chicken sheds. The client hoped to utilise an unused barn to house the boiler, cutting the costs of the project, which also included a specially designed wood chip store and fuel handling system.

KWB UK designed and installed two 300kW KWD TDS wood chip boilers into the existing barn. The bespoke wood chip store was designed to maximise the space available onsite while providing easy access for filling, and the fuel handling system was designed to feed both boilers.

Benefits to customer

With the biomass boilers in place, the client is able to heat the chicken sheds efficiently and benefit from the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. This effectively means the payback time for the capital cost of the project is very short, whilst providing an excellent return on investment (ROI) over the 20 year RHI period.
